Music and Lyrics by Vic Grady
I sit around, await the dawn,
I’d love to up and fly away –
Just lay back down, crash to the ground,
Like every other day
All my fallen stars and fables
Are crushed between the altar cracks –
I know I’ve felt this Fire somewhere before –
How long ago, 40 years or so?
I’ll never step outside my door
To strange and darkened skies,
‘Cause Heaven knows the rains before
Have frozen shut my eyes!
And the strains of quiet thunder
Would still my voice with silent hands –
I think I’ve travelled this road before –
I just don’t know, such a long time ago,
A long time around!
It’s just as plain as any child could say,
It’s what you are that makes the time sweet day by day
And if I’m right – I’ll leave that up to you –
I think you’ll find you know what to do, what to do
And when the children play on Mayday morning,
Tired people stop and stare outside
Hazy day, don’t you hear the mercy warning –
Rise high the tide!
My father wept among a million dreams,
The verses of his soul unsung, unstrung, it seems
The grace and gifts he never lived to see,
Just what an Angel spark has done to me, done to me
So come on people, clap and shout together,
Toss another gilded sin to the fire
Either way, the wind’ll cleanse the weather,
Right down to the wire!
I think I’ve found my way around,
Please take my hands, don’t walk away
I’ll do for those who need a friend,
As Someone’s done for me
With this growing Fire inside me,
To blast away the shrouds of stone –
Oh, let me breathe in the Light again,
And find my voice, my Angel, at the Dawn! – at the Dawn!
I want to take that second chance –
Yes, let me live in the Light again!
Dawning Day, it’s just a heartbeat away,
Just a Day around!
